Mr. Aldo Cichero, nautical architect and designer, bought the castle in the late 1980s. The castle, unfortunately, appeared to be in a state of decay with partly broken roofs and original furnishings missing.
It was restored and for many years the castle was used for ceremonies and banquets.
At the end of 2006 the architect Cichero with his partner Franca Mollo moved to live at the castle, opened it to the public and started organizing cultural events.
Aldo Cichero has transferred his nautical archive to the castle, the result of over 50 years of work in ship design. The archive preserves over 400 projects the architect realized for the most famous Italian and foreign shipyards.
Today Aldo and Franca live in the castle together with Maria Teresa, the centenarian mother of Aldo, cats Isis and Ottone and the peacocks Ginger and Roger.
